Jul. 9-10, 2025 Birmingham

This year’s World Biogas Expo is taking place in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 9-10 July 2025.  Organised by the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA), the event is the only trade show solely dedicated to the global anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas sector. The Expo is made up of conference areas and an exhibition area — all free entry. Key players in the AD and biogas sector will gather at the NEC Birmingham to hear about market trends and policy in the conference area (Engine Room and Summit theatres) and explore the busy exhibition where AD and biogas companies will showcase their products, services and innovations. The evening of 9 July will also be a time for celebration with the winners of this year’s AD and Biogas Industry Awards competition being revealed at a gala ceremony.

Jul. 9-10, 2025 Birmingham

Over two days of high-level strategic debates, this thought-leadership forum uniquely dedicated to AD and biogas reviews all the key aspects of this fast-developing sector – from the international context and emerging markets to waste management, city infrastructure and finance – and the increasingly significant role it plays in providing solutions to climate change and other global challenges – such as energy and food security as well as air and ocean pollution.

We are delighted to announce that the host of the 2025 AD & Biogas Industry Awards and Gala Dinner will be Rory Bremner – the multitalented impressionist, comedian, satirist, writer and ballroom dancer! Rory is perhaps best known for writing and starring in the political satire show Bremner, Bird and Fortune, a mainstay of Channel 4’s comedy output for nearly 20 years. He has won two BAFTAs, three Royal Television Society and two British Comedy Awards throughout his distinguished career. He regularly appears on TV and Radio, as a performer and a presenter, with credits including Spitting Image, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Strictly Come Dancing. He also holds the honour of having appeared on both Wogan and Parkinson more often than any other guest. We look forward to welcoming Rory into the AD and Biogas communities, and we are immensely proud that he will host our flagship event in 2025.

There are five different families of digesters, but over 90% of biogas plants in Europe belong to just one of them. In most cases, plants are engineered and optimised according to the constructor`s criteria, or its proprietary technology or patents, or the agreement it has with the suppliers of components. Such a definition of “optimum” does not mean that the final outcome is optimum for the specific context of the customer. Solutions that are the market standard; in one country are not necessarily suitable elsewhere. Knowing to evaluate how to choose the most suitable solution for a given context is then crucial to get the highest return from the investment.
