Asian Utility Week 2015 is a large scale exhibition and conference series focused on the technology strategies behind ASEAN`s largest utilities - power, gas and water. It is a sister event to European Utility Week which is the largest utility event in the world. It is focused on the technology strategies behind ASEAN`s largest utilities, in particular the distribution and retail sectors and the integration of distributed generation assets within the grid. The event has a long history in metering and smart grid strategies, clean energy, T&D, and Billing/CRM.

While the conference itself is strategically focused on issues relevant to senior management decision makers, the exhibition hosts a separate event series called the Technical Clinics (focusing on key engineering problem areas) and the Innovation Showcases (focusing on new hot products and technology strategies) to add value for our trade visitors. These sessions are designed to be highly technical and are ideal for vendors to promote their services to the key influencers.

In both the conference and exhibition we profile projects across the region that highlights the innovations and partnership potential of working with ASEAN based utilities. We have previously attracted over 1200 participants from across Asia but this year, we are targeting 2000. To achieve the increased participation from Asian based utilities, we will have a dedicated ASEAN Buyers Program which sources and hosts utility buyers from across ASEAN, as well as technical on floor content to appeal to technical managers. 

The conference is designed for strategic level decision makers and runs for 2 days within 4 tracks. It covers all the key issues raised by the utilities during one-to-one research discussions and as suggested by our Program Advisers comprising utility leaders from across the region. We anticipate no less than 80 speakers sourced from across ASEAN utilities, leading vendors as well as international experts.

The event has a long history in metering and smart grid strategies, clean energy, T&D, and Billing/CRM which remain part of the exhibition today. 

In relation to power, we will focus on:

  • Transmission and distribution, and the integration of distributed generation assets within the grid. 
  • Servicing remote communities and how renewable energy facilitates this.
  • How to better protect their utility assets and how to secure their revenue so we focus on these areas in our plenary discussions. 
  • Peak management strategies such as Demand Response, Energy Storage and creating new energy from Biomass which is the subject of case studies. 
  • But like everywhere, ASEAN utilities know that they need to upgrade their ICT infrastructure to promote applications like big data analytics, AMI smart metering and clean power integration and these topics make up most of our afternoon streams.

  3. Projects and Integration - We begin with biomass which is the key clean energy strategy for the Thai utilities but also focus on other distributed generation projects in Asia

Please note:
Preference will be given to case studies and presentations (co-)presented by utilities. Sales and marketing presentations are not appropriate for this conference and will not be accepted. Vendors are welcome to submit proposals as part of a sponsorship package, preferably along with a leading utility speaker and based on an actual project experience/case study.

Format:
Speaking slots are approximately 20 minutes in length. By submitting an abstract authors are agreeing to provide a copyright release and final publication of their presentation for publication in the conference proceedings. Email us to get the abstract template.

Selection Criteria:
All paper proposals will be subject to approval by Advisory Board and conference management. Early submission is strongly encouraged. Applicants will be notified of their status by email.

Abstracts will be reviewed and judged on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the conference theme and theme of the individual session
  • Significance of the work/project to a targeted audience
  • Originality of work/project, including new concept, innovations or data
  • The completeness of the work/project
