Biogas and Biomethane Hands On - Online Training Courses - 2023
This online biogas and biomethane training is based on IBBK‘s premium course, taken online. In this online event, you’ll get vast exposure to years of biogas experience which enable the worldwide transfer of know-how through lectures and interactive workshops. Developed in close cooperation with the State Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Bioenergy of the University of Hohenheim. This event bridges scientific research results with practical knowledge.

Module 5 (10 am – 1 pm)* – Pump Technology & Pre-Treatment of Biogas Substrates:
- Pre-treatment and storage of biogas substrates

Module 6 (3 pm – 6 pm)* – Theory & practice of digester biology in AD:
- Introduction to Digester Biology
- Proper usage of digestate as organic fertilizer in agriculture
Module 7 (10 am – 1 pm)* – Digestate treatment, upgrading & marketing:
- Biogas plant start-up – Practical Digester Biology
- Virtual tour through a state-of-the-art biogas & digestate upgrading plant
Module 8 (3 pm – 6 pm)* – Process control of biogas plants:
- Practical Presentation – necessary on site tests and interpretation of operating
modes on a biogas plant - Process control and process optimization
Module 9 (10 am – 1 pm)* – Building materials for biogas plants:
- Biogas specific building materials for sustainable plant operation
- Process and external heat and gas engineering
Module 10 (3 pm – 6 pm)* – Safety measures & monitoring:
- Safety Features of Biogas Plants: Theory & Practice
- Measurement and data recording for optimization, stabilization and enhancement of
the biogas process
Module 11 (10 am – 1 pm)* – Biogas upgrading, utilisation & biomethane infrastructure
- Biogas in Germany: current technological status of biogas upgrading
- Gas infrastructure and biogas utilisation to heat and power
Module 12 (3 pm – 6 pm)* – Green gas, Bio-LNG and biomethane utilisation:
- Green Gas and Bio-LNG
- Biomethane as a transport fuel
Module 13 (10 am – 1 pm)* – Biogas Upgrading Units – Measuring Techn. & Maintenance
- Measuring technology on biogas upgrading plants – best practices and latest
advancements - Maintenance of biogas upgrading units for sustainable plant operation
Module 14 (3 pm – 6 pm)* – Q&A-Session:

This training takes place 15. February – 7. March (including the Q&A session), 2024 each Tuesday and Thursday.
Depending on your booked module, it’ll either be in the morning from 10am to 1pm or in the afternoon, 3pm-6pm.
All times mentioned are CET (Central European Time, same as Berlin).
If you don’t live in central Europe, please check which local time this is for you.

The training language is English, start to finish.
To participate, all you need is a stable internet connection and a device to connect, such as your mobile phone, your computer, or your tablet.
