Energiequelle GmbH, a German renewable energy developer, has commenced the construction of a 17.1-MW repowering project at the Minden-Hahlen wind farm located in North Rhine-Westphalia. This initiative involves replacing five older turbines—NEG Micon NM 60/1000 and Enercon E-40 models—with three advanced Nordex N149 turbines. These new turbines, with a total capacity of 17.1 MW, are anticipated to produce approximately 40,000 MWh of electricity annually, marking a 600% increase compared to the output of the previous setup. Jan Schrobsdorff, Project Manager at Energiequelle, highlighted the enhanced power generation and land-use efficiency achieved with fewer turbines. The project received approval under the Federal Immission Control Act in December 2024 and is slated for commissioning by the end of October next year.
