Energiequelle set to start construction on 22-MW German wind farm
German renewable energy developer Energiequelle GmbH announced it will commence construction this September on a 22.2-MW wind farm in Thuringia’s Soemmerda district, located roughly 20 km from Erfurt. The project will feature four Enercon E-160 turbines, each with a 5.56 MW capacity and towering 246.6 meters high. After more than ten years of development and permitting, foundation work is planned to begin in May 2026, with the first turbine expected to be operational by October 2026. Once complete, the wind farm will generate enough electricity to supply approximately 10,500 households. Energiequelle also revealed plans for further expansion in Thuringia, with three approved wind projects totaling 66 MW and an additional 150 MW currently in development.
