Advanced High-Blend Ethanol Fuels
According to St1 corporate strategy, we develop and produce renewable fuel options. The advanced ethanol, which we biorefine from feedstocks outside food chain, is used as a biocomponent in petrol. It is also used in unique RE85 high-blend ethanol fuel that reduces fossil COâ‚‚ emissions from traffic by up to 80%. RE85 is available in our Finnish retail network and it can be used in flexfuel vehicles.
Additionally, our own waste-based ethanol is used in RED95 ethanol diesel, which is used in Scania`s ethanol diesel engines. RED95 reduces fossil CO₂ emissions by up to 90% and local emissions by up to 80%.
St1 plans to extend its advanced biofuels production also into renewable diesel. We are investing in a new hydrogen manufacturing unit, which will be built at the St1 Refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is the first step in the series of planned investments, which will enable the St1 Refinery to start the production of renewable diesel in 2020.
