BIMEO dBIOX - Biological Pretreatment Systems
The success of separation using the ValorGas system is conditioned to an optimal biological desulphurisation pretreatment for impurities elimination present in the biogas, which are a limitation for the suitable use of the membranes.
BIMEO provides the most leading biological pretreatment systems that allow substantial savings in process costs and maximum desulphurisation performance, as well as the removal of volatile organic compounds usually found in biogas.
The selection of the proper pretreatment for the process depends on the biogas quality to be upgraded, as well as the addition of thermal drying, biological desulphurisation and refining by activated carbon adsorption.
The optimized combination of biogas cleaning technologies leads to:
- Better results in biomethane quality
- Better energy efficiency
- Low operating costs
- Low environmental impact
ValorGas® offers great advantages over other conventional techniques for the recovery of Biogas.
- Cleaner technology today
- Higher efficiency> 99.9%
- Great flexibility and reliability
- Better CAPEX / OPEX ratio between investment and operating costs
- Greater durability of the facilities
The biogas obtained through the digestion of waste, prior to the elimination of impurities, is subjected to the valorGas® system under conditions of pressure, temperature and humidity specifically defined to achieve the highest selectivity between CH4 and CO2, using the speed difference of permeation between the two gases.
CO2 permeates faster and CH4 is concentrated and obtained as retentate.
The separation process is carried out at pressures between 12 and 20 bar and in a temperature range between 30 and 70ºC, being essential the appropriate design to achieve the best operating performance according to the composition of the biogas to be enriched.
The valorGas® system also integrates a sophisticated control system that allows a high level of automation while ensuring maximum stability.
The highest possible selectivity in a single membrane separation stage is insufficient to achieve a high percentage of recovery.
For this, the patented Sepuran® three-stage separation process is applied, where each partial gas flow (permeate and retentate) is led through two new membrane units arranged in series.
Thanks to the recirculation of low-quality waste gas to the treatment head, it is possible to avoid any loss of performance while obtaining the highest possible concentration of CH4 and CO2 in the production lines.
In this way, a high purity is obtained in the Biomethane and CO2 flows and a significant reduction in operating costs.
