Calvert - Liquefied Natural Gas
During the last decade, liquefied natural gas (LNG) has become the new black in the gas industry and recognizing its huge market potential, Calvert is among the first to venture into small-scale LNG development. With the cost-competitiveness and environmental advantages of LNG over petroleum products, it is proving to be a viable source of fuel globally even for small-scale installations. Calvert are world leader in the design and manufacture of cryogenic plants since 1958. Each Cosmodyne system is designed and built to rigorous standards of quality and workmanship from nearly a half -century of experience.

Technology Overview
From proposal to installation, our sales, engineering, manufacturing and field -service personnel continually demonstrate our commitment to customer satisfaction. And this commitment doesn’t end with delivery — our field -service staff is ready to serve you 24 hours a day, wherever you are. When you buy a Cosmodyne plant you can be sure you will receive a quality built and reliable plant.
Liquefying natural gas will decrease the volume by a factor of around 600, enabling efficient sea transport as well as land transport where pipelines are not a suitable sustainable solution.
To meet this growing LNG market, Especially within small/medium scale liquefaction plants, our highly qualified engineers have developed a product portfolio adapted to the needs of small scale LNG operators.
A modularized approach is selected, where customers can easily select a scope of supply adjusted to their specific project need.
Our reliable and innovative solutions are based on 60 years' experience from the LPG industry which we are now parlaying into the LNG industry. We have a broad spectrum of offerings including equipment and components for LNG,
complemented by after -sales, engineering and facility management services.
The following pages will give you a picture of the different types of solutions that Calvert Energy can deliver for your LNG business.
What is LNG?
Liquefied natural gas, or LNG, is natural gas in its liquid form.
When natural gas is cooled down to -161°C (-259°F) through a process known as liquefaction, it becomes a clear, colorless, odorless liquid that can be transported and stored more easily than natural gas because it occupies up to 600 times less space.
When LNG reaches its destination, it is returned to a gas at regasification facilities. It is then piped to homes, businesses and industries.
LNG is neither corrosive nor toxic. Natural gas is primarily methane, with low concentrations of other hydrocarbons, water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen and some sulfur compounds. During the liquefaction process, natural gas is cooled below its boiling point, removing most of these compounds. The remaining natural gas is primarily methane with only small amounts of other hydrocarbons. LNG weighs less than half the weight of water so it will float if spilled on water.
Typical LNG Process
The gas is first extracted and transported to a processing plant where it is purified by removing any condensates such as water, oil, mud, as well as other gases such as CO2 and H2S.
An LNG process train will also typically be designed to remove trace amounts of mercury from the gas stream to prevent mercury amalgamizing with aluminum in the cryogenic heat exchangers.
The gas is then cooled down in stages until it is liquefied. LNG is finally stored in storage tanks and can be loaded and shipped.
Our goal is simple: Provide turnkey solutions that will convert unwanted polluting gas for innovative fuels for the future and energy solutions to the region.
These solutions must be sustainable, ease of planning and development, create local employment, eliminate the burden of expensive and polluting fossil fuels, improve the quality of life and positively impact our local communities and environment.
Calvert-Cosmodyne provides these solutions for Fuels of the Future and we will contribute to making this a reality.
Our core skills and experience: Our directors have cumulated decades of industry experience in the oil and gas, finance, electrical, logistics, procurement, renewable energy and manufacturing sectors, in both technical and executive leadership positions.
We understand what it takes to assess new challenges, to harness the skills and resources to deliver the solutions, and to satisfy the commercial requirements of our clients. We develop new business opportunities, build fuel resources and work with local companies for implementation.
Cleaner and Lower Cost than Diesel
- Monetize wasted “flare gas”, stranded gas, marginal gas pools, or biogas
- Main use is to offset expensive diesel fuel in power plants, industries, mining, truck fleets and residential
- Generators operate in dual fuel mode 40/60 diesel/gas, or 100% gas
- Cleanest possible fossil fuel, >25% CO2 and >75% NOx and SOx reduction compared to diesel generation, earns carbon credits
- Virtual pipeline, truck gas to power plants and end-use customers, bypass congested grid and poorly developed gas infrastructure
- Low cost modular solution, installation + commission in less than 1 month
- Remote monitoring, O&M support, requires minimal manpower
- Great payback at 8-10USD/mmbtu, much cheaper than diesel fuel
- Eliminate delivery theft
