When we designed and built the world’s first commercially operated supercritical boiler, we were instrumental in the advancement of power generation efficiency. Improvements in efficiency continue to help our customers and the power industry use less fuel and produce lower emissions per kilowatt-hour of electrical output. Along with B&W Beijing, our joint venture partner in China, we have since provided nearly 150 supercritical boilers for more than 99,000 megawatts of generating capacity. This experience includes the largest supercritical boilers in the world. And – In the United States, we designed and constructed the first ultra-supercritical boiler, representing the most advanced steam cycle conditions commercially available today.

That’s why we integrate environmental technologies into new and existing operations to control and monitor a range of emissions including nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, fine particulate, mercury, acid gases and other hazardous air pollutants.

Along with European subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Vølund – we are a leading supplier of equipment and technologies that turn solid waste and biomass into thermal energy. Over the years, B&W Vølund technologies have been incorporated into more than 500 waste-to-energy and biomass production lines in over 30 countries. Our collaborative experience includes boilers and environmental systems, as well as operations and maintenance services for some of the largest waste-to-energy facilities in the world.
