Babcock & Wilcox products
Auxiliary Equipment
Air Heaters
B&W can add, redesign or upgrade air heaters to solve boiler operating performance problems and improve unit efficiency.
Solutions utilizing regenerative (rotary) or recuperative (tubular or plate) air heaters can be customized to address specific needs. We can also provide associated flue and duct, structural and controls modifications that accompany air heater upgrades.
Boilers
Fluidized Bed
Fluidized bed technology offers the advantage of reduced NOx and SO2 emissions by allowing the control of bed temperature and using reagents such as limestone as bed material. Additional benefits include the ability to use fuels such as biomass or waste fuels which are difficult to burn in conventional boiler systems.
Boiler Replacement Parts
Coal Pulverizer Rebuilds
As a major designer and manufacturer of coal pulverizing equipment, B&W understands the importance and value of pulverizer availability. B&W is prepared and staffed to respond to your need for emergency repairs, replacement parts, mill component refurbishments or pulverizer upgrades through our Authorized Service Centers. We have an experienced staff of pulverizer experts who can solve your pulverizer operating or maintenance problems.
Commercial Nuclear Plant Components
Steam Generators
There are two fundamental steam generator designs used in commercial power systems in North America.
NextBAT - Technologies From Crane To Stack
B&W - Fuel Feeder Systems
In our waste-to-energy plants, there is no need to pre-treat the waste. Besides saving time, eliminating pre-treating lowers both your operation and maintenance costs, saving approximately 15 €, or $20, per metric ton of waste. This means that a small-medium sized plant can save more than 1 million Euro each year and larger plants even more. Proper feeding of waste onto the grate needs to be continuous and adapted to the grate’s transport capacity. Our technology ensures an even fuel layer across the grate so that steady energy output and maximum efficiency are ensured.
VoluMix™ - System of Better Combustion and Burnout
Our VoluMix™system ensures a good, turbulent mixing of the flue gasses. This gives you a better combustion process and burn-out in the gas phase. The system is installed at the inlet of the first pass. VoluMix™ is designed on the basis of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling. CFD programs are advanced calculation tools for computations of three-dimensional turbulent flow with heat and mass transfer. Since 1996 CFD technology has been one of the cornerstones of our design, making us pioneers in the industry.
B&W - Boiler Technologies
We manufacture highly reliable boilers that can operate up to 18 months between stops, a full six months beyond the industry standard. We have been designing and building boilers for decades. Our boilers require a minimum of maintenance and most cleaning can be carried out during operation.
Fuel/Energy Source - Coal
Supercritical Boilers
B&W`s supercritical and ultra-supercritical boiler designs offer the flexibility to meet the most demanding steam generation needs of our customers.
Biomass Energy
B&W - Combustion Of Biomass
The technologies needed to efficiently burn biomass fuels depend on the specific type of fuel involved. And the choice of fuel often depends on which type is available in a given geographical area.
Fuel/Energy Source - Natural Gas and Oil
Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)
B&W`s Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) is a product of more than 145 years of steam generation experience and innovative research and technology leadership. Each HRSG is custom designed to maximize the recovery of energy from your combustion turbine.
