Heat fusion is the process used to join two pieces of thermoplastic pipe. The process involves heating both pieces simultaneously to a specified temperature. When the proper temperature has been reached, the pipes are fused by pressing them together and applying constant and specific pressure. As the two pieces cool under pressure, they bond to form one indistinguishable pipe. When done properly, the fusion joints are as strong as or stronger than the original pipes.
