Laminated Paper

SHARE

Often applications that require higher thermal resistence also require enhanced mechanical characteristics. Meeting the requirements for these different characteristics is achieved by combining two materials in two or more layers. These laminated products are available in a wide range of variations.

Under an agreement with Innovative Paper Technologies (IPT), LLC WEIDMANN offers a variety of products for the dry type transformer and motor/generator markets. IPT composites are a family of laminates based on IPT’s advanced high performance hybrid insulation material, TufQuin®110, or highest inorganic-content paper, CeQuin®I or CeQuin®3000, combined with polyester film. Typical constructions consist of two-ply and three-ply laminates. The inorganic papers provide the longterm thermal stability and dielectric strength required for continuous operations. The polyester film provides added mechanical strength, improves the overall handling of the paper, and makes it easier to use in coil winding and wire wrapping processes.

Field of Application
Laminated products can be used in power, distribution and traction transformers as well as in the motor and generator industry.
Typical applications of IPT laminates are ground, phase and inter-winding insulation for dry type transformer; slot, phase and wedge insulation for electric motor and generator and coated paper for heat and/or pressure bonding applications.

CeQuin Laminate

  • IPT composites of CeQuin inorganic-based papers laminated with polyester film have been developed to provide a balanced blend of electrical, physical, and thermal capabilities on a cost effective basis. The polyester film is bonded to either CeQuin I or CeQuin 3000 using a high temperature resin system. A variety of two-ply and three-ply laminates are available.

DMD (dacron/mylar/dacron)

  • Is a high temperature laminated insulation, composed by two layers of non woven polyester and one central layer of polyester (Mylar). Typical application is at 155ºC – Class F. The regular dimensions are 0,13 mm, 0,18 mm, 0,23 mm, 0,28 mm, 0,35 mm and 0,45 mm. Standard reel: 980 mm width.

NMN (nomex/mylar/nomex)

  • Is a high temperature laminated insulation, composed by two layers of Nomex and one central layer of polyester (Mylar). Typical application is for 155ºC - Class F or greater. The regular dimensions are 0,18 mm, 0,23 mm, 0,28 mm, 0,37 mm, 0,42 mm and 0,47 mm. Standard reel: 900 mm width.

TufQuin Laminate

  • IPT TFT composites are a family of laminates based on IPT’s advanced high performance hybrid insulation material, TufQuin  110, combined with polyester film. Typical constructions consist of a thin ply of TufQuin 110 hybrid inorganic/organic paper bonded to both sides of polyester film using a high temperature resin system.
