Saertex - Multiaxial Non-Crimp Fabric
Innovative and tailor-made: SAERTEX composite reinforcements made of glass, carbon and aramid fibers. Those materials are also known as NCFs (non-crimp fabrics). We deliver non-crimp fabrics with more than 3,000 article designs. Depending on the fiber type, surface weight and angle combination, various mechanical characteristics can be achieved. SAERTEX multiaxials are individually configured for our customers and optimally adapted to a range of processes. Suitable methods are vacuum infusion, RTM, pultrusion, prepreg, compression, etc.
- Fiber, weight and orientation are ideally adjusted: The positions are specifically aligned to the ideal quantity and orientation in the loading direction // Angles of between -22.5° and +22.5° are possible // 0° position is also possible.
- Stretched fibers for optimum mechanical strength: Absorption of the highest possible loads through
stretched fibres // Reduced component weight while maintaining equal mechanical properties or even a higher component load with the same component weight. - Individual drapability and outstanding permeability: The drapability of the SAERTEX multiaxials is tailored to customer requirements and exhibits outstanding permeability // Optimisation and enhancement of the SAERTEX fabrics for infusion processes.
- Cost savings due to fewer layers: Reduction of the manufacturing costs (fewer layers are required thanks to the higher area weight of the individual layers).
- Resin compatibility: SAERTEX non-crimp fabrics are optionally compatible with various resin systems: EP / UP / VE / PUR / PP / PA and caprolactam.
In comparison with crimped fibers, as found in woven textiles for instance, straight lay-up (non-crimp) fibers have the greatest possible load-bearing capacity. Composite components manufactured from non-crimp fabrics (NCFs) permit the ideal transmission to the component of the generated forces – in the direction of loading – by specifically adjusting the fibre orientation.
Only when everything comes together immaculately can the solution be perfect. We therefore strive to develop an individually tailored system solution together with our customers. A composite material that is matched to all of the relevant success factors. The design of the reinforcement textile is a major factor here. In this context, the fundamental characteristics of NCF composites are dependent on:
- The type of fiber (glass, carbon, aramid)
- The fiber diameter/weight
- The width of the fabric
- The design of the layer structure
- The stitching
- Suitable methods: Vacuum infusion, RTM, compression, winding, SMC, T-RTM, pultrusion, prepreg, hand laminating, etc.
- Reinforcement materials: Glass, carbon or aramid fibers, special fibers, hybrid fabrics
- Max. width: 3810 mm, individual tapes on request
- Resin compatibility: Epoxy resins // Unsaturated polyester resin // Vinyl ester resin // Polyurethane // Polypropylene // Polyamide and caprolactam, etc.
- Certificates: Type approval DNV GL
- Max. surface weight: 4000 g/m²
