Mylar Bags & Moisture Barrier Bags

Mylar is DuPont’s brand name for a polyester film that is semi-transparent, light-weight, and flexible. Mylar is technically known as biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate, or BoPET.
Mylar is used in a wide range of applications because of its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, transparency, reflectivity, gas and aroma barrier properties and electrical insulation. Mylar can also be metalized to create a “mylar foil”; a material that reflects more UV light than plain Mylar and that is much less permeable to gases.
Mylar Bags or Foil BagsBecause so many people automatically consider Mylar to be metallic, “mylar” is often used as a generic term to refer to almost any foil lined, plastic, flexible barrier material.
We offer a range barrier materials that are combination foil and polyethylene designed to offer moisture, vapor and UV protection for products and machinery during shipping and storage. Ideal for moisture barrier bags and protective covers, the materials listed below are commonly referred to as “mylar” though they are really combinations of polyethylene and foil. All materials are available as bags, tubes, sheets & rolls.
