Solar Boost - Model 3024iL DUO - Photovoltaic (PV) Battery Charge Controller
The Solar Boost 3024i is a 12/24V MPPT type Photovoltaic (PV) battery charge controller. It also includes an auxiliary output which can serve as a 20 amp load controller. The DUO-Option Diversion Control upgrade converts the 3024’s 20 amp auxiliary output into a separate 20 amp diversion type charge controller.

The Diversion Control upgrade allows a 3024 to provide diversion type charge control for hydroelectric, wind or similar generator type power sources while at the same time and within the same unit providing MPPT type PV charge control. The Diversion Control upgrade also allows the 3024 to divert full available PV and generator power which is not required for battery charging to a useful purpose such as heating water.
Solar Boost 3024i and 3024iL MPPT charge controllers include a 20 amp load control output. The DUO-Option so ware upgrade converts the auxiliary output into a 20 amp Diversion type PWM charge controller. The DUO-Option upgrade allows a 3024 to provide charge control for hydroelectric, wind or similar DC generators requiring diversion type charge control while at the same time providing MPPT type PV charge control. The MPPT PV Power Controller and the new Diversion Power controller operate as a single coordinated charge control system fed by multiple power sources. Operation is similar to the coordinated operation of multiple 3024’s on Blue Sky Energy’s IPN Network. This coordinated approach provides superior battery charge control for hybrid systems compared to using a separate diversion charge controller.
Optimizes Diversion Power Control
A diversion charge controller regulates battery voltage by diverting a portion of the available charge current to a resistive dump load supplied by the user. With the DUO-Option the user may select either a Min-Power mode to provide minimum dump load heating, or a Max-Power mode where maximum power is delivered to the dump load. Min-Power mode is typically selected when diversion is used for charge control only and dump load power is not directed towards a useful purpose. Max-Power mode is typically selected when dump load power is directed towards a useful purpose such as heating water. ¬e Max-Power mode may also be used with PV power alone if the user wishes to divert available PV power which is not required for battery charging to a useful purpose. For dumpload applications exceeding 20 amps current booster moduleCBM4070 will support dump loads up to 40 amps. CBM4070 is driven by the auxiliary output of a DUO-Option equipped 3024.
