Solar Collectors
Solar collectors are systems that convert sunlight into heat. Read the pages below to learn more about solar collectors.
The solar collector contains a system of tubes through which a liquid, such as water, can flow. The liquid is heated by the sunlight up to a maximum of 90ÂșC. Solar collectors are usually installed on roofs. The heater water is stored in a storage tank. Now, when a hot water tap is opened, the cold pipe water flows through the heated storage tank to the tap. If the water is not hot enough, it is further heated by a central heating boiler or a geyser (gas water heater), etc.
Solar collectors are systems that convert sunlight into heat. A solar collector converts approximately 50% of sunlight into heat annually. Some examples of solar collectors:
- Solar water heater
- Tower system
- Parabolic trough
- Parabolic dish
- Solar chimney
