In the pyrolysis process, the woody residues are carbonized in the absence of air, thus producing biochar. The process is similar to the natural formation of coal, but is extremely shortened in terms of time. The heat generated during the pyrolysis process is sustainably converted into electricity using the ClinX CHP system. In this way, the system provides both its own energy as well as additional EEG-compliant feed-in electricity into the public grid, which can be expanded on a modular basis.

There is great untapped potential in the area of solid biogenic residues. The total potential of dry substrate residues in Germany amounts to 151.1 million tons, of which around one third remains unused. This applies in particular to wood and forestry residues as well as agricultural by-products, for which there have been hardly any marketing opportunities to date.

Our plant fleet is particularly sustainable thanks to our own green energy generation and use. The excess heat that remains after our biochar production processes is used to downstream power generation. This means that the energy potential is utilized throughout and even the post-process heat is reused in an environmentally friendly way. Naturally, the resulting energy is CO2-neutral and can even be subsidized under the EEG – an important additional source of income! The downstream power generation of pyrolysis gases into electricity offers companies a way of converting high-energy gases into electricity, which means cost savings through self-sufficiency and a reduction in dependence on conventional energy sources. It also improves the environmental footprint through lower emissions and promotes a sustainable circular economy, which can lead to an innovation advantage as part of the brand image!
