PBSTwo-Channel Ignition

SHARE

PBS ignition is designed to generate voltage impulses for two spark plugs, in the spark gap of which the jumping spark ignites the fuel-air mixture in the APU turbine combustion chamber.

The ignition device has two separate channels. Each channel consists of a free oscillation convertor that charges the capacitor. When the internal spark gap voltage is reached, the energy accumulated in the capacitor is discharged in the spark plug. The frequency of discharges depends on the supply voltage; at 14 V it has a minimum value of 3 Hz, while at 30 V the maximum value is 7 Hz.

Compact design with minimal maintenance requirements

The PBS single and dual channel ignition weighs 0.55 and 1.1 kg respectively; a compact device that can handle up to 3,000 starts with a startup of 30 seconds until inspection.

High reliability

The total expected service life is 25 years or 9,000 startups with a 30-second startup time.
