Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria. The Environment Agency is the UK scheme administrator. Organisations that qualify for ESOS must carry out ESOS assessments every 4 years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures. Organisations do not need to pre-register with the Environment Agency but must notify the Environment Agency by the set deadline that they have complied with their ESOS obligations.

How can Energy Saving Trust Help?
Energy Saving Trust has a strong track record in assessing transport energy and emissions and we have launched a Transport Energy Assessor training and approval scheme.
By working with ESOS Lead Assessor approval bodies we can reach as many energy assessors as possible and improve the level of knowledge around transport energy, how to reduce energy consumption, improve efficiency and minimise emissions.
