How it works
Infloor Radiant Systems use electricity, natural gas or other fuels to power convection heat which is then distributed through an infloor tube or element system. The distribution is either roughed into the concrete floor slab during construction or run under the floor. A properly constructed distribution by certified installers will ensure even heat transfer through the surface area for even heating comfort by occupants above.
Air absorbs infrared energy poorly allowing people and objects to enjoy the generated heat without wasting energy to heat the air in environments where that is not required. This provides operating efficiencies in most buildings because heat is distributed evenly through natural convection.
Benefits
- Allows an even thermal comfort across the entire building with less hot or cold spots than forced air or hydronic heating
- Highly efficient at quickly heating the requested rooms
- Doesn’t require distribution sources other than the infloor tubing or elements
- (i.e. no fans, ductwork, pumps, piping, or radiators) allowing a cleaner architectural vision
- Wall or roof penetrations for combustion exhaust are unnecessary for areas of continuous air movement. This means easier, faster and lower cost installations
