Vortex ICINGWind Farm Icing Probability

SHARE
Vortex ICING is designed to detect icing events using a modeling chain based on WRF model, without relying on on-site measured data. It delivers simulated occurrences of icing events at a given site, along with associated wind statistics, to help estimate the effective reduction in wind resource caused by extreme cold conditions. The estimation of icing events is based on the distribution of ice accretion rate thresholds, calculated by applying the Makkonen icing accretion model (Makkonen, 2000) to WRF outputs.
