Wind power and farming were made for each other. Wind turbines have been on farms for hundreds of years, pumping water for irrigation and turning the millstones that grind grain. Farmers have always known how to maximize the resources on their acres—including the air above them. Conveniently, the wind resource in the countryside is of much better quality than in cities, as there are far fewer buildings and other obstacles around to slow down the air flows.
