Biomass is biological material derived from living organisms - in the context of biomass for energy this is used to mean plant based material, usually wood from forestry, processing wood or crops, sometimes specifically grown for energy applications. Generally, in the context of biomass boilers, the common fuels are wood chip, wood pellet and logs.
