Based on over 40 years experience in developing hydropower schemes in Iceland and elsewhere we have developed a comprehensive work program covering all stages from first desk studies to full operation.

Landsvirkjun owns and operates two geothermal power stations in North Iceland. A 3 MW station that commenced operation in 1969 and a more recent 60 MW station.

Our team has extensive experience in preparing and constructing hydroelectric and geothermal power plants and high-tension transmission lines.

Landsvirkjun Power`s Investment Department analyses the returns and risks associated with new projects.
