Environment Services

Wind Energy

OES have been working in the Wind Energy field for over a decade on environmental feasibility and impact assessments and now offer environmental support services to development teams involved in wind farm construction. Getting OES involved in a project at construction stage gives you access to a team of in house professionals with a wealth of experience in wind farm development and ensuring least possible risk to the project and receiving environment during construction. Our team have developed strong working relationships with many Local Authorities, National Parks and Wildlife Services and Inland Fisheries Ireland which help us to design and implement practical solutions to meet their requirements.

Energy Services

Energy Audits/ Surveys

Whether you are a home owner, running a commercial business or a manager in industry OES can help. Energy audits and surveys are all about saving you money. We identify where you can reduce energy usage in your premises and we help you come up with the best solution for your premises.

Monitoring & Measurement

Once you have undertaken an energy survey OES recommend monitoring and targeting as the essential next step. The purpose of monitoring and targeting (M&T) is to relate your energy consumption data to the weather, production figures or other measures in such a way that you get a better understanding of how energy is being used. In particular, it will identify if there are signs of avoidable waste or other opportunities to reduce consumption. Data collection may be manual, automated, or a mixture of the two. Once an M&T scheme has been set up, its routine operation should be neither time-consuming nor complex.

Energy Management Systems

For many industrial and commercial clients OES have implemented energy management systems. The objective of the Energy Management System is to establish a systematic approach for improving energy performance and efficiency continuously. OES work with the client to ensure that energy management is a day to day part of business management and is a key performance indicator. The Energy Management System is structured in a similar manner to the Environmental Management System, ISO14001. OES can assist on the implementation of an energy management system which is stand alone or can be integrated into existing systems on site. This approach ensures that a company benefits from the continued value-add of the management system, in the form of reduced energy costs.

Energy Efficient Design

OES have been involved in a number of projects involving the assessment of the design from an energy efficient perspective. The key to effective energy efficient design is to get in at the start – as early as possible in the project life. This is not always possible and can be seen as a time delay and an unnecessary cost in a project where budget and time is tight. However, a small investment at the start can have immense savings over the project lifespan.

BER Assessments

OES have been involved in a number of projects involving the assessment of the design from an energy efficient perspective. A BER is an objective scale of comparison for the energy performance of a building ranging from A1 to G. It is rather like the A to G rating for a household electrical appliances like your fridge. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient.
