Energy Storage Consulting Services

ORTECH is a consulting company and does not represent any single solution provider or any one type of storage technology.  ORTECH has experience with a wide range of storage technologies and understands and appreciates that each technology has its own characteristics and potential uses.  As energy storage currently has low visibility and is not widely understood, ORTECH feels that there are great opportunities for consulting and engineering companies to help match solution providers with applications and potential users.

Wind Resource and Solar Resource Assessment Services

ORTECH’s 40 year experience in atmospheric sciences combined with state-of-the-art modelling and analysis provide dependable results. Accurate energy yield calculations start with careful wind data collection and in-depth meteorological analysis. Combining our knowledge of wind resource assessment with our experience in site development and project finance provides unique insight into projects relying on wind resources.

Renewable Energy Project Financial/ Economic Analysis/ M&A Services

ORTECH has published extensively on wind farm economics, cost estimating, and the performance of operating wind farms. More importantly, we have experience working closely with equity sponsors throughout the development process. We have advised our clients on numerous bid pricing strategies, including the renewable power RFPs in Ontario (2004 and 2005), Quebec (2008), Nova Scotia (2008), and New Brunswick (2009). We have been able to re-visit bid outcomes, and as a result, have developed a strong proprietary insight into renewable project economics.

Permitting for Wind/Solar Projects Renewable Energy Approval

ORTECH has the experience and strategies you need to help you obtain Renewable Energy Approvals (REAs). Ontario’s Green Energy and Green Economy Act (2009) changed the way renewable energy is permitted in the province. The REA combines the requirements of the Ministry of Environment (MOE), the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH), and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS) to create one seamless process.

Renewable Energy Vendor RFP Development Services

We will review it for completeness and accuracy, test your assumptions against other wind and hydro projects, and help you obtain debt and equity financing. A successful bid means knowing your costs – equipment, construction, operating, debt and equity. It also means analyzing bid requirements. RFP submissions vary from province to province, and are complex technical and financial documents.
