UTB wet scrubbers are the most suitable option for small and mid-size plants and are designed for removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Biogas is washed with a water-NaOH solution in a two-stage process: premixing at the inlet, and extended counterflow contact in a packed bed tower with the scrubbing solution.

The plant is composed of several sub-sections each one accomplishing a specific treatment stage. The scrubbing tower features a proprietory injection set design providing effective counterflow biogas washing which, together with the long contact time between the washing solution and biogas mixture, dramatically reduces the H2S content from the very beginning of the process.
