When PFA & PTFE flare fittings first arrived on the scene in the early 1970s, The only tool for expanding the tube end out to slide over the opposing flare nozzle on the fitting, was a cold plier that simply stretched the tubing outward. It had to be installed very quickly after stretching because the tubing always shrank back to nearly its original size. This method was crude, and put undue stress on the tube and the flare joint. In applications where thermal cycling occurred along with pressure cycling, the joints would eventually leak.

This brought the introduction of our flaring equipment.

Crist Group’s Flaring Kits and Products

Hot flaring has taken over for most installations these days. We offer hot flaring mandrels & kits at extremely good prices.

  • Operators can master flawless flares in under 30 minutes of training, ensuring consistent duplication and eliminating variations. This enhances quality and integrity and reduces labor costs.
  • Controls flare dimensions on OD and ID, ensuring precise interface between male fitting and tubing flare.
  • Enables hand-tightening with 90-95% contact interface.
  • Flares are crevice-free, reducing contamination buildup.

Flaring Capabilities

Material Memory

Cold flaring tools do not change material memory and induce mechanical stress into the tubing and assembled joint

Stress Reduction

Hot flaring reduces mechanical stress but does not fully form the flare and does not fully change the material memory

Exact Fit

TruFlare exactly matches the fitting nozzle & fully changes the material memory making a long-lasting leak-free connection
