Feedwater Heaters
Feedwater Heater systems can extract up to 30% of the turbine throttle steam. The intelligent use of this energy source is critical for efficient generation of electric power. Owners, operators and engineers look to TEi for the most efficient and cost-effective feedwater designs to assure longevity and trouble-free service. Each feedwater heater is designed to specific thermal conditions and manufactured for a singular purpose. Whether it be sophisticated designs involving extreme superheat, abnormal flow conditions or dissipation of high energy fluids, TEi has the expertise and experience to offer proven solutions to any design problem. In addition, TEi provides innovative and practical concepts to ensure peak heater performance from installation to testing through full or part-load operation.
We offer a multitude of design configurations for desuperheater and drains cooler zones as well as the latest in channel closure techniques. The three most common are listed below:
- Bolted-Gasketed Closure – This economical, gasketed pill box is easily disassembled for full access.
- Seal-Welded Diaphragm Closure – This economical welded closure is leak-proof and easily disassembled for full access. It requires no gaskets.
- Breech-Lock Closure – This widely accepted, quick opening closure provides full access to the tubesheet and structural reliability under varying temperature and pressure conditions.
Low Pressure Feedwater Heaters
TEi’s low pressure feedwater heaters play a key role in maintaining efficient, trouble-free operation of your generation facility.
TEi employs an array of proprietary and industry specific design programs to ensure the integrity, performance and reliability of each feedwater heater. One such program employs a comprehensive vibration analysis to limit potentially damaging fluid velocities to safe values.
TEi offers highly refined condensing, desuperheating and drains cooling zone designs to contend with severe operations, partial or overload conditions.
- Bolted Cover – This economical closure offers full access to the tubesheet by employing a gasketed coverplate.
- Vent Duct Cross-Section – Full length vent duct is centrally located within the tube pattern to scavenge non-condensibles.
Vertical Heat Exchangers
- Vertical channel down (VCD) designs offer a small footprint, piping economics and simplified bundle access.
- Vertical channel up (VCU) offers similar space savings, easy channel and bundle removal and positive liquid seal for full-length drain coolers.
- Vertical channel down feedwater heaters are particularly unique in terms of their distinct regions or zones plus areas of ineffective or flooded surface.
