Lakepointe - Anaerobic Digesters System
Anaerobic digesters, kick up your methane and begin your path to a positive cash flow! Even if you are only using your methane only to run your heat exchangers, reductions in sludge volumes and related disposal cost savings will provide you a positive cash flow! Maintain summer operating temperatures even during cool winter months.
Product Details
An Alabama municipality applied the technology to three anaerobic digesters. Results included an immediate increase in the production of methane from this system; it averaged a 73% increase during our trial. Methane can cogenerate electrical power. Through biological stimulation in this system, methane production is not only increased but stabilized. With our applications for odor control, liquid sulfide values are biologically reduced and eliminated, in this application hydrogen sulfide is a by product of the biological breakdown of organics. If there is less sulfide present, there is less hydrogen sulfide gas produced, thus the gas quality is improved. As organics are converted to methane gas, there are fewer solids (sludge) to dispose of, in this case 40.5%. These solids are processed and hauled away, less solids-less cost. Another benefit realized by the staff was a reduction of ammonia levels by 44%. Applications in this area of targeting anaerobic digesters have also shown benefits including increased ability to supernate digesters, stabilized volatile acid/alkalinity ratio (VA/A), less foaming, and increased methane quality, as well as increased volatile destruction. The best part, he has a positive cash flow just based on solids reductions and related disposal expenses.
In a Florida municipality, an anaerobic digester was designated as the receiving point for septage and grease trap waste from hauling companies within the county. 'Pinellas County Utilities currently does not have a formalized grease handling plan, however sewer ordinance regulates what materials can be disposed into the sewer system and grease is not permitted. Hence, as an interim attempt to eliminate illegal dumping, Pinellas County approved the acceptance of grease at the McKay Creek WWTF on October 4, 1994. This had caused numerous odor complaints and increased labor costs which have required the introduction of grease into the existing anaerobic digester. This practice has been in effect since September 17, 1996 and over the past year process has continuously been impaired. Various lab tests indicated that inefficient operation was a direct result of the varying influx of grease.
A pilot test using the product at the McKay facility began on September 27, 1997 and has proven the technology is beneficial to operation of said digester.
Since the application of the product began, the said digester has been operating at optimum performance. Specifically, overall benefits include increased ability to supernate digester, stabilized volatile acid/alkalinity ration (VA/A) and increased methane production.
An efficiently operating anaerobic digester operates when methane formation is the most dominant stage, with an optimum pH of 6.8-7.2. Lab data, proves since the application of product the average pH is 6.8 and VA/A has stabilized around.28 and volatile solids reduction has increased 10% to 15%. Furthermore, gas production which typically only permitted waste gas to be utilized one day per month now is continuous and has been since September 30, 1997 to date making gas produced the sole fuel to run the heat exchanger. Prior to application of a biostimulant minute and intermittent gas production occurred, requiring the heat exchanger unit to be operated on a diesel consuming 57 gallons of diesel fuel per day at a cost of $61.14.
Hence, in addition to improved and enhanced digester operation, the allocation of a biostimulant at $79.00 per day has resulted in a savings of $22.14 per day in total operational costs. At that rate the operating costs of the McKay Creek facility will be reduced by $8,081.10 annually net of the cost of using the product. It is obvious that the savings combined with the increased operating efficiency of the Plant warrants that continued use of the subject product. It is therefore requested that you consider approval to purchase the product.'
