Model SGT-100 - Industrial Gas Turbine
The SGT-100 gas turbine is an industrial gas turbine in the power output range from 5 to 6 megawatts (MW) which combines compact and rugged construction with advanced technology. For industrial power generation a single-shaft version of the SGT-100 is used which has a power output of 5.05 MW(e) or 5.1 MW(e). It is ideally suited for combined heat and power (CHP) plants. For mechanical drive, a twin-shaft configuration of the SGT-100 is used. This delivers a power at coupling of 5.7 MW and is frequently deployed in the oil and gas industry, for example as a drive solution for pumps and compressors.
Overview of Benefits

- Proven in applications in combined heat and power (CHP) plants
Features and Fields of Application
Industrial power generation
For industrial power generation, a single-shaft version of the SGT-100 with a single twin bearing rotor with heavy duty casings is employed. The turbine design allows full on-site maintenance to be carried out. The SGT-100 is suitable for the following applications in power generation:
- Gas turbine power plants (simple cycle applications)
- Combined cycle power plants (combined cycle applications)
- Combined heat and power (CHP)
- Power generation for the oil and gas industry, on offshore platforms and FPSO vessels (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading)
Mechanical drive
Mechanical drive
The twin-shaft version of the SGT-100 gas turbine has proven itself over decades as a mechanical drive since it provides outstanding load acceptance and load shedding flexibility. The overall design of the gas turbine is uniquely simple. The SGT-100 employs a single twin bearing gas generator rotor and a single-stage overhung turbine. The free power turbine is a two-stage design. The rotors are contained in heavy-duty casings which are horizontally and vertically split, allowing full site maintenance to be carried out. Since the turbine is compact and highly reliable and can be maintained on-site at the point of application it is frequently used in the oil and gas industry. The SGT-100 is suitable for a wide load and speed range, for example as:
- Drive solution for pumps, for example for water injection in oil production, in crude oil processing and for the transport of refinery products via pipelines
- Drive solution for compressors for gas injection, for increasing pressure in pipelines and in natural gas processing
Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system
Both versions of the Siemens SGT-100 gas turbine are available with Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system, providing extremely low NOx emission levels with both gas and liquid fuels. The turbine also has dual-fuel capability.
