H2ecO - Solar Thermal Systems
From Solar Power
Solar water heating works by harvesting the sun’s energy via ‘collectors’ fitted to your roof. This energy is then transferred from the heated collectors to your hot water tank. These systems are effective all year round in daylight, it doesn’t have to be sunny daylight. Once installed, all of the heat harnessed from your system is free. These systems are low maintenance so you can continue to save on hot water heating for the lifetime of the system. You can also use Solar thermal for assisting central heating systems.
Solar Thermal: What is it & How Does it Work?
Solar thermal water systems uses heat from the sun to warm domestic water systems. The collectors on the roof harness the sun's heat, this is then transferred and stored in a hot water cylinder.
There are two types of solar water heating panels:
- Evacuated tubes, usually roof mounted.
- Flat plate collectors, either roof mounted or integrated in the roof
The heating provided by these systems varies throughout the year, and as such they are used in conjunction with traditional style boilers of immersion heaters. In the summer a system could provide the majority of your hot water although this will be substantially lower in the winter.
Solar thermal systems consist of four main components:
- Solar Collectors- to collect the heat.
- Pump- To deliver the heat from the collectors to the hot water cylinder
- Differential temperature control to tell the pump when the water is hot enough to be sent to the cylinder.
- Hot water cylinder
How the systems are designed and installed depends on a number of factors. As we do not employ salesmen we only ever send out engineers to visit you to ensure that you get the best advice possible and to ensure that all of our systems are designed to a high quality to meet the demands of our customers.
Benefits of installing Solar Thermal systems:
- Lower fuel bills
- Lower your homes carbon emissions
- Could provide an income through Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
- Very little maintenance required
- Quick and 'painless' installation
As well as reducing your carbon footprint you will...
As well as reducing your carbon footprint you will also be eligible for the governments Renewable Heat Incentive.
