The fully welded VAU-Bloc heat exchanger is ideally suited for all purposes and environments where common plate heat exchangers don`t meet the mark. Opposed to brazed and gasketed plate heat exchangers mainly used in heating and refrigeration, the VAU-Bloc uses neither copper solder nor gaskets. Therefore the VAU-Bloc can be used at very high temperature or in corrosive media. The VAU-Bloc with its compact dimensions delivers high heat transfer performance and low pressure drop.  Corrosion resistant material – as long as it displays good forming and welding procedures – can be used. The flow-channels can be cleaned by water-, air- and steam-jet as well as chemical agents. As it is divided into several flow paths (cross counter current) the VAU-Bloc can adapt to a diversity of tasks.

The central stack of plates is made up from a variety of welded stainless steel plates. For an ideal employment in a variety of applications three innovative plate patterns have been developed („Double Dimple“, „Tubular“, „Chevron“). These are deployed depending on medium, cleaning possibilities, pressure loss or available space. This allows us to respond exactly to what our customers need or what conditions we are presented with.

The flow connectors are not located on the heat exchange plate, as is the case with common models. Instead, they are welded onto the removable cover plates. The socket-size therefore only depends on the width of the unit, the height of the stack or the desired number of flow passes.

The different plate structures, plate sizes, the varying amount of plates as well as the amount of flow passes allow for customization of the clear flow cross-section and flow length according to what the circumstances demand. Different flow rates can be made to ideally fit the flow conditions thanks to the variability of deflections on the primary- and secondary side.
Later on, removing or inserting baffles makes adapting to new operational conditions easy.
