Biogasclean - Biological Desulfurization of Biogas and CO2
MBR – Moving Bed Reactor – is Biogasclean’s patented technology for cleaning biogas with a high sulfur content. The MBR technology is especially developed for biogas formed during treatment of wastewater on molasses ethanol distilleries. Gas bubbles through liquid with moving media. After compression, cooling and air injection the raw biogas with H2S is led through the gas bubble diffusers in the bottom of the MBR tanks. The biogas bubbles up through the digested wasterwater. Biogascleans QSR - Biological Desulfurization Process System
The biological desulfurization process produces sulfate (SO4) and elemental sulfur (S). The SO4 is drained out but the elemental sulfur will stick to the packing media and has to be removed on a regular bais. Biogasclean’s QSR® – Quick Sludge Removal – system is a vast improvement. Cleaning is required 2-4 times a year and can be done within one working day. During QSR® cleaning the tank is filled with water and pressurized air is injected in the bottom of the tank so the packing media is washed like in a big washing machine. The QSR® system makes it possible to clean the tank for sulfur and gypsum sludge without emptying the tank for packing media. This will reduce downtime and increase revenues.

By injecting pure oxygen, our 100% biological desulphurisation system operates with a guaranteed maximum oxygen surplus of 0.3 %, meeting the required specification for injection into the natural gas grid. This eliminates dilution with nitrogen and ensures the biological desulphurisation system can be located upstream on all types of biogas upgrading systems, like membranes, water scrubbers and PSAs.
