Sulphasorb Fe - Adsorbent Media - Dairy Biogas Plant, California, USA - Case Study

THE PROBLEM:
A dairy biogasfacility in California was undergoing needed upgrades and expansions. Biogas is a gaseous fuel produced by the fermentation of organic matter, most often in the form of bovine waste. This facility plays a vital role by breaking down organic matter and sourcing energy for the community. These processes release primarily methane, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and carbon dioxide into the air which cause unpleasant odor and create greenhouse gas.
THE SOLUTION:
PureAir provided the facility with Sulphasorb Fe™ adsorbent media. The customer was originally using an iron sponge to purify the air. Our media alone provided twice the capacity and allowed the facility to reduce its equipment size by half. Originally, the facility was producing H2S levels of 7,000 ppm. After our media was installed, H2S levels dropped to below 1 ppm. Spent media can be disposed in soil as a soil amendment, making it both non-hazardous and an easy regenerative agriculture process.
