How can I make my business more profitable?
Reducing energy costs is possible thanks to biomass, as will be demonstrated in Conecta Bioenergia
Lots of businesses are installing biomass to reduce their energy costs and so face the future safe in the knowledge that hikes in fossil-fuel energy prices will not have a negative impact on their operating costs. The tourist industry, agriculture and food firms and residents’ groups top the list of sectors making savings on the costs which fossil fuels would involve: in total these areas account for 4000MW of installed biomass energy production.
At Conecta Bioenergia, the companies leading these changes will explain how they have done it, as well as giving the figures involved and details of future biomass use and generation projects. Participants can find out how the technology can be adapted for different sectors and meetings will be arranged between large energy consumers and businesses involved in bioenergy. The preliminary programme for this event is now available:
Making my agriculture and food company more profitable
There are 30,261 food firms in Spain. The sector needs very large amounts of energy for its processes – for example, dairy businesses can need up to 884kWh/t, and abattoirs can reach 220kWh/t.
Practical examples of food businesses present at Conecta Bioenergia:
- A boiler fuelled by vineshoots at BODEGAS MATARROMERA.
- The treatment of slaughterhouse waste and animal fats, presented by ERATIC.
- Joint generation of biomass in the food industry, by TIM WESSER.
- Biogas production in the dairy industry.
- The conversion of foodstuff waste into solid biofuels, by INGELIA.
- Energy services contract for food companies, by GARRIGUES.
- Heat in poultry and pig farms, by ERBI.
- Joint generation of biomass gas in the industrial drying of oily products and maize, CIDUT.
- Small-scale electricity generation from food waste, NC SERVICE.
Making my tourist business more profitable
Spain is home to 22,547 places where tourists can stay (hotels, cottages and houses in the countryside, camping sites and holiday chalets). The average energy consumption per room is 1,913 kWh per year, the cost breaking down as follows: 29% on air conditioning, 12% on heating and 11% on hot water.
Examples of biomass use in the tourist sector present at Conecta Bioenergia:
- Trigeneration (heat, cooling and light) for use in hotels, presented by COMBUSTION y SECADO.
- Solar-biomas District Heating at the Camping-Bungalows Monte Holiday mountain resort, by CENIT SOLAR.
- Biomass boiler at the Paracuellos de Jiloca spa, by ARESOL.
- Biomass pump-feed systems for boilers on hotel terraces, by SATIS RENOVABLES.
Reducing energy consumption in residential blocks
In blocks of flats, the average energy consumption of each dwelling is almost 8000 kWh per year. Conecta Bioenergia will have a range of examples of biomass use in residential blocks:
A District Heating sytem in Olvega, by REBI.
Good practice in biomass District Heating in the Barrio San Juan Bautista, by Tudela town hall.
Biomass solutions in residential blocks, by SATIS RENOVABLES.
Free for big users
This event is aimed at those working in sectors with very high energy consumption. Attendance is free of charge to those who belong to a participating group or, at a reduced fee, to others who do not belong to such a group but who register before 21st September. Biomass professionals who are interested in taking part can enjoy a 40% discount if they register before 21st September. Places are limited and registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
Conecta Bioenergia will coincide with Expobioenergía 2012 on 23rd and 24th October in Valladolid.
