Best practice: Screening and QC testing of petroleum products and fuels
Free webinar in association with Digital Refining on June 16, 2021
Screening and quality control of petroleum products and fuels can be a tedious and expensive process when performed with traditional methods. A faster and more efficient approach utilizing Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) is presented in a free webinar by Metrohm in association with Digital Refining on June 16, 2021. Participants will get an overview what NIRS is, how to implement this technology and how key parameters in petroleum products are analyzed by NIRS according to current ASTM guidelines.
NIRS as described in ASTM Guidelines E1655, D8340, and D6122 is a non-destructive technology that provides results for multiple parameters in just 30 seconds without requiring solvents or reagents. Due to these advantages, NIRS has become the preferred method for numerous producers to quickly quantify critical chemical (e.g., water content, aromatic content, RON, MON, bromine number/index, diene value …) and physical parameters (e.g., API gravity, density, and viscosity …) all by the same analysis.
Participants in this webinar will learn:
- How near-infrared spectroscopy works and can be used to quantify multiple chemical and physical parameters within 30 seconds
- How near-infrared spectroscopy complies with ASTM guidelines such as E1655, D8340, and D6122
- How Metrohm customers in the petrochemical industry use near-infrared spectroscopy and the cost and time savings they have experienced
